How encryption works
Encryption keys are created on your computer. Cookies, tabs, proxy passwords and 2FA keys are encrypted before they're sent — the server stores only ciphertext.
Enable
- Settings → Encryption → Turn on (or the window after signing in).
- The account key is protected by your account password.
On another computer
After signing in, an Account password window appears — enter the password once, and the key stays on this computer. Status: On, key is on this computer or On, key is locked → Open.
What doesn't work without encryption
- Live view and remote control
- Profile password
- Transferring profiles to another account
- Opening encrypted profiles and team profiles
Technical details
Argon2id from the password, XChaCha20-Poly1305 for data. The profile key is wrapped in the account key; team profiles are also wrapped in the team key.
Possible errors
Profile data is encrypted. Unlock encryption in Settings with your account password; for a team profile, the team owner must open the app once.
Why: The account key isn't unlocked on this computer, or the team key hasn't been received yet.
What to do: Settings → Encryption → Open and enter your account password. For a team profile, ask the Owner to open GetAntik.
wrong account password
Why: The password doesn't match the key.
What to do: Enter the password you sign in with. If it was changed on another computer, use the new one.
couldn't decrypt the data: wrong password or corrupted file
Why: Wrong key, or the profile snapshot is corrupted.
What to do: Check the password. If that doesn't help, open and close the profile on the computer where it last worked to send a fresh snapshot.
couldn't open the team key
Why: The team key hasn't been shared with you yet, or was shared before a password change.
What to do: Ask the Owner to open the app — the key will be shared automatically.
