Account password
Your account password protects both sign-in and the encryption key.
Change
- Settings → Encryption → Change password.
- Enter your current password and a new one (8–128 characters).
- You'll need to sign in again on other devices.
If you forgot it
There's no self-service reset: the encryption key can't be unlocked without the password. Contact Support — see Account recovery.
Possible errors
The current password is wrong.
Why: The wrong current password was entered.
What to do: Check your keyboard layout and Caps Lock.
The new password must be 8 to 128 characters.
Why: The password is too short or too long.
What to do: Choose a password of at least 8 characters.
Unlock encryption with your account password first.
Why: The key isn't unlocked on this computer.
What to do: Encryption → Open, then change the password.
