Proxy not responding

Help · Troubleshooting

If the proxy doesn't respond, the profile won't launch: otherwise the browser would reveal your real IP.

What to check, in order

  1. Click the globe in the profile row, or Check in the proxy manager.
  2. Check the expiry date with your provider. For HollyProxy, look at the expiry column: Expired → Renew.
  3. Check the address, port, username and password — it's best to paste the line again via Paste as a line.
  4. Try another type: HTTP ↔ SOCKS5.
  5. For mobile proxies — Rotate proxy IP.
  6. If your provider uses IP binding, add your computer's IP to the allowlist.

Possible errors

proxy host:port isn't responding (timeout / no connection)

Why: The proxy is unreachable.

What to do: Follow the steps above. If the proxy is alive on the provider's side, check whether a VPN or firewall is blocking the connection.

proxy host:port responds but doesn't pass HTTPS traffic (check the username and password)

Why: Wrong authentication, or the proxy doesn't support HTTPS.

What to do: Check the username and password; try SOCKS5.

no internet access

Why: Couldn't reach the internet without the proxy.

What to do: Check your computer's connection.

the IP check service returned an unexpected response

Why: The IP check service failed.

What to do: Try again in a minute.
