History and bookmarks
History and bookmarks are imported and exported in Cookies and data → History and bookmarks.
Formats
- History — JSON or just a list of links, one per line.
- Bookmarks — an HTML file, as exported by Chrome.
Requirement
The profile must be stopped: history and bookmarks live in the browser's files. For history, the profile must have been launched at least once.
Possible errors
The profile is running. History and bookmarks are read from files, so stop the profile and try again.
Why: The browser keeps the files open.
What to do: Stop the profile and try again.
the profile has no history yet. Launch it at least once
Why: The browser files haven't been created yet.
What to do: Launch and close the profile, then try again.
no history entries found in the file
Why: The file is empty or in a different format.
What to do: Use JSON or a list of links, one per line.
bookmarks file is corrupted
Why: The file isn't a bookmarks export.
What to do: Export the bookmarks to HTML again.
